First post in 2023! I didn’t get to post this last year because I was too busy but anyway… We watched this movie way back when it was released in PH. The movie released was almost over then but my sister and I was able to watch it! There were only a few people who watched at that time maybe because the release was almost over but on the bright side it was really comfortable for us to watch it since the cinema is not full.

I think this is the best anime movie I have watched so far. It has the action, the story, the character development in the movie and the gorgeous characters ehheheh. Even though it is not a series the movie was able to tell the important stories that was needed to convey to the viewers. The action is super nice and not confusing unlike other anime series or movies that I’ve watched where I don’t know what was going on lol. It is also funny how the audience in the cinema silently scream every time Gojo will appear in the screen hahaha.

I really recommend watching it. It was a nice movie to watch before the 2nd season starts this January. I also saw that it was now being streamed on Netflix, so it will be easier to watch it!

Captain Marvel

I wanted to watch this movie before, I was hyped knowing it’s a new superhero movie and the first Marvel movie with a female lead but seeing all the reviews when it was released held me back a little bit. It has a lot of mixed reviews and mostly saying that the movie is bland and has the usual Marvel storyline for new superheroes. I still watched it though, spontaneously after my friend invited me to go to the mall and after our first planned activity failed.

It was good. It was not bad. So… the whole movie is a so so kind of feel.

It introduced the character in a flashback type of style, but makes me wonder if it still necessary at that point. The movie didn’t really give a whole punch of it’s feel like how it felt when I first watched Black Panther. It feels like it is still missing something but I have no clue what it is. It is not a movie that I would like to watch the second time. I think it is enough to watch it once and kind off like having a preview for the character. Her character’s powers is a bit too much though, I was kind of expecting a cool back story about how she gets her super powers not just having it accidentally. She’s basically unbeatable in the movie which makes me uncomfortable seeing how the other super heroes would like with her.

We enjoyed the movie by making fun some of the characters though lol. It feels like because we already watched too many Marvel movies there’s nothing really new in it and that’s why we just made fun of the costumes and scenes that they have.

All in all it is a so-so introductory movie and a good insight for the character Captain Marvel. I wonder how she’s going to help the Avengers team. She should just beat Thanos by herself because she’s just too good for her super powers.

Rating for me: 7/10… It’s okay.

Black Panther

Hey! It’s the review for the latest super blockbuster movie Black Panther. I’ve been anticipating this movie for months, always checking when it will be released. Since watching the Captain America Civil War movie and seeing Black Panther in action there I’ve been in awe and I really thought to myself, ‘I would watch this movie on my day off that’s for  sure!’. So I kept waiting even though I have Amazing Spider Man to watch last year yet I still kept checking when will the movie be released.

So seeing the movie last week was just amazing, I even forgot to say the right flavor of the popcorn I was going to buy and I accidentally blurt out Black Cheese flavor instead of blazing cheese flavor. That is how excited I am lol.

Thoughts on Spiderman: Homecoming

Spider man Homecoming is really different to the first two installments of the Spider man franchise. Actually all Spider man movies are different to each other, different by how the story was narrated, how it was directed and how they portrayed the characters.

In this spider man movie they brought freshness to the characters and the mood throughout the film. They made a lot of changes in terms of how the character was portrayed, they made Peter Parker the nerdy student but the typical teenager who is seeking for his own adventures. What I like about the movie is the characters are given varying personalities like Michelle (portrayed by Zendaya) as weird but very intelligent person which is typical to today’s teenagers. And the one thing I like about Marvel is that they made their cast so diverse that it was not only American actors but there’s also half-American actors or British actors or with Asian descent actors and for me that is so cool because it shows that you can act and be part of this franchise no matter country/race you are.

In short though, I like the whole movie, it shows the typical teenager problems but the difference is the character is a superhero, he wants to prove something that’s why he tries so hard to be a superhero. Maybe the one thing I’m a little bit off is the fight scenes but it is understandable since this is the first movie and this is the first time the characters encounter this kind of problems.

P.S: I like the plot twist! Watch out for it. Didn’t realize it until the climax.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I still like the Dead Men Tell No Tales vs Salazar’s Revenge as a title for the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The movie was released today here in Philippines but the tagline instead of the international title as Dead men tell no tales the title was Salazar’s Revenge. Well anyway, this post isn’t about the title but the movie so I’m just going to let it slide.

So today was the release of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie here in PH and the first impression that I have was it is still funny. The story and all the side characters are all different than the previous movies but I think this movie can still stand by itself. I have mixed feeling when watching this movie because the story flow, the characters are all different and as usual I can’t help but compare it to the previous movies.

The movie is still funny as the previous ones but maybe because of the new characters that are accompanying Jack Sparrow that gives me off. Their characters are fresh and new and is the new Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann but because the latter characters are loved and both are action type and funny characters you really can’t help but wanting this new characters to be somewhat like them. Henry Turner (Will and Elizabeth’s son) is very formal and intelligent that is so different to his parents. He doesn’t act as a pirate as his parents was but I guess this is what the writer’s want a new type of characters for Sparrow. The heroine in this movie Carina Smyth is good and intelligent but the character is lacking in the drive for this movie as she is searching not only for the treasure but also for her use in the whole movie but I like how her character is portraying the women are also capable to understand and have knowledge to science and stuffs that have been deprived before.

The villain is really scary than the previous villains such as Davy Jones who’s also somewhat funny but this new villain is also likable as the actor is really good at being the villain.

I like the whole movie in the story and all, it is still somewhat slow kind of development but still very likable. It is also a serious type of Pirates of the Caribbean film but the seriousness didn’t diminish the funny and playfulness of the series.

Still a good movie don’t know how many thumbs up I will go tho.

GOTG Vol. 2

I’m supposed to write this the day or the week I’ve watched the movie but because of my laziness and becoming busy I didn’t get to write anything. I really do miss writing that’s why even though it is long overdue I still want to write this movie review.

Since watching Guardians of the Galaxy 1, I’ve been longing to watch the second movie to see what improvement or what kind of story will happen to the Guardians. They are no longer outlaws of universe so what are they going to do now. The story of Vol. 2 is about Quill learning about his heritage and the development of other characters such as Drax and Rocket. The two movies are so different that I can’t help comparing it to each other. The first movie is more relaxed and funny because the characters are all immature and outlaws that gives them a unique anti-hero vibe that other super hero movies don’t have while the second movie is more on character development and their struggles as from an outlaw to guardians of the galaxy and because of that the movie is emotional and serious than the previous one.

Even though I miss the jokes and funny attitude the guardians have in the first movie I love how they narrate and portray the development of each character and make it a one story. The characters that were given more development than the others are Quill, and Rocket. With Quill it’s for reconnecting with his father, his first relative since leaving Earth and became part of the galaxy and for Rocket it’s the idea of being a hero and at the same time a thief and outlaw because he didn’t want to be too much of a good guy.
Yondu is also given a lot of screen time here unlike the first film, exploring the character’s true nature and story. The Guardians are like one big family in this film: Quill as father, Gamora as mother, Rocket as big brother, Groot as the baby and Drax as the ridiculous uncle. Baby Groot is really one of the things that I like in this film, how every one of the Guardians are protective of him and really treating him as their baby.

The whole point of the Guardians is like the Fast and Furious series, a group of people becoming a family because of one purpose but unlike the fast series this group of people are still work in progress in terms of their relationships. Their personalities crash because they didn’t know if they belong to their family but in the end they will all still be together because of their friendships and the “family” that they have. The movie is about the relationships of the characters and their development in their personalities. In the end all of them realize that no matter where they come from as long as they’re together as family/friends.

All in all even though this isn’t the type of mood I expected from Vol. 2 I still like it because all of what is happening in the movie is important to the story and like Vol. 1 the characters are still important and what I like in the movie. They are all different but as a group they are powerful and became more fun.

Be Our Guest

I’ve finally watched last week the movie that I’ve been waiting for 2 years since they’ve announce Emma Watson will be portraying Belle. Beauty and Beast is one of the amazing live action movies that I’ve ever watched. The movie has everything: the story, the cast, the amazing costume designs and the music that was also featured in the animated film, it has all the things you’ve asked for.

The story takes place in France just like it was in the animated film and the movie includes the characters talking in French and mentioning things that was in France. It has scenes that is in the animated film that will make feel reminisce all the childhood memories of watching that film. It has a little bits of differences in the animated film and in this live action like, the story of the Beast is more explored and explained here than in the animated film and the facts like the Beast likes to read and have knowledge on a lot of things because he has high education for being a prince is mentioned here unlike in the animated film whereas it feels like he forgot how to be and act as a prince. The story of Belle’s mother is also mentioned here and why she feels different is also explored more in the movie. This is one of the reasons why I like this version of the live action as it explains the little bits of the story that is not part of the animation and gives you more information about the development of the characters, it shows how Belle and the Beast bond while finding out their little stories. The movie shows the development of the story while not also changing or forget the important scenes and parts of the animated film which is an element of the film.

Movies for Valentines Day

As you may have noticed in the title this is a long overdue post, it’s March already if you haven’t noticed but I just really want to create a post for Valentines day this year. I’ve been busy these couple of days and I really miss writing so please let me write this LOL.

Anyway, this post is not only for this year’s Valentines but for future Valentines day as well, it will serve as a reference for me what I will watch for my future V-Days and whenever I feel the need to watch romantic comedy movies (lonely person *cough*).

So this post is my Top Movies to watch in Valentines day.

• Notting Hill

Notting Hill is my all time top romantic comedy film and for me the movie has it all. From acting, dialogues,  casts, comedy and romantic scenes I love it. It is a must watch movie for someone who likes romcom films. It doesn’t involve a deep plot but it will still make you feel giddy and touched at the same time. I watched this movie this year maybe I can re-watch it next year or I can watch it next week haha this is how I love this movie.

• He’s Just Not That Into You

A movie with an ensemble cast and with different stories for each characters. There are stories in the movie that I always watch and skip the parts that I feel just okay but overall the movie is good. I’m just a picky person and I know which scenes do I like in this movie. Still recommendable and will make you realize that there are certain rules in love but there’s always will be an “exception”.

• The Proposal

Another movie that I always watch when it’s Valentines Day. The movie is funny and the cast have a great chemistry together. I like the acting of Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. The story is a bit cliché but it’s not cringy so it is still good. Must watch if you want a classic romantic comedy film

• When In Rome

This movie will make you laugh. It has a considerable mix of comedy and romantic scenes and this is a good movie if you just want to laugh and feel good after watching. The movie is not sappy and has a good story with “superstitions” and very recommendable watching when it is Valentines Day.

Doctor Strange Movie Review

WARNING: This is purely my opinion and full of spoilers. Read at your own risk.

This is really long overdue but I’ve been too lazy to post it.

Doctor Stephen Strange is a talented surgeon. He is a genius in saving lives and uses his hands to create medical miracles but unfortunately because of an accident he lost the power of his miracle surgeon hands. With this he search for a cure for his hands and this is where he learns spiritual magic and learned how to turn manipulate time and became friends with a flying cape.

What I like about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)’s films, they are good at casting actors and directors. In here we can see that Benedict Cumberbatch suits the role well since he also portrays that same type of character in Sherlock as Sherlock Holmes. The arrogant super genius who can do things at will just by their intelligence. Casting Rachel McAdams is a good choice too since we need a special character for Doctor Strange to realize he is not alone in his life it is a good thing we have Rachel McAdams’ character to lean on. I know there’s some backlash in the Ancient One’s casting of Tilda Swinton and for me who haven’t read the comics yet can’t really compare or give an opinion who should really have the role but I still like they gave it to Tilda Swinton, a woman and full of mysterious aura that the Ancient One has. The casting for the actors are good too and all of them are good actors with their remarkable expressions for their character you can tell that they do not do this for the sake of being in an big budgeted film but because they really want the role.

Maze Runner Movie Review

WARNING: This may have spoilers in it so it’s your decision if you want to read this and this is only my opinion. You don’t have to agree or again read this.

Well… since I have finished watching both Maze Runner movies (including the scorch trials one), I decided I want to make a review just for fun. At the beginning I have high expectations in this movie because my friend saw it and she likes it.

We’ll start with my positive review about it: I like how they really make it look dystopian feel. I like the setting, the camera angles and the scenery even though is really gloomy it looks amazing. The actions or runnings are good too, especially the suspense parts. It really gives you the moment whenever there’s a suspense scene, like you want to shout at the screen, “Come on guys run!!!!!!”. The jumpscares in the second movie are good too, I never expected jumpscares in this movies since mostly it’s all about running and everything. The story is somewhat good too, their struggles in finding cure and what is their real purpose. If it’s really for the greater good or just for themselves.
